Sisca Tehnokratsia is a full-time student currently studying LLM/LPC at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), class of 2020-2021. She moved to the UK in July 2019 and began studying GDL with UCLan in September 2019, completing the course in 2020 with a distinction. Her summer break of 2020 was supposed to be filled with a work placement in a law firm in Preston, a mentoring placement in a law firm in Manchester, and a 3-day program of Judges Marshalling Scheme in Preston Courts, however, they had to be postponed due to covid-19. Thankfully, Tiger Law was like a fresh air to her when she was given the opportunity to get involved with Tiger blogs (immigration topics) – it was her first time writing a blog, although it’s a lot harder than she imagined, she truly enjoyed it!
Her education and work experience background are very unique spanning different countries and jurisdictions i.e. her LLB is from Indonesia where she graduated in 2012, whose legal system is based on Dutch law, she then worked as a paralegal in a law firm in Brunei Darussalam for 6 years (its legal system is based on English law but the application is a complete different kettle of fish). She was trained to handle multiple areas of law, including personal injury, adoption, debt recovery, and intellectual property (trademark and patent) on top of her passion that lies in conveyancing/commercial property, corporate matters, immigration, and family law.
She loves experimenting in the kitchen because food is life (especially spicy noodles!) and hiking. She’s a fighter, she has never given up pursuing her dream to be a solicitor although her route has to be longer than ‘normal’ – moving countries twice means starting her ‘career diary’ from scratch again because every country has different rules, standards, and cultures. Therefore, she’s very proud that she’s part of Tiger Cubs and has never stop trying her best to be a role model & inspiration to her own little cub aka her baby daughter.
